IJN report: A little better than usual start as 6
BBs & 2 CAs are sunk at Pearl. Another BB is crippled & the last one damaged.
Indo is a clean sweep. One USN CV based at Australia. POC at 7.
IJN report: Jon puts all 3 LBA in the USM, so I decide to go 1 area. Jon challenges the AI & goes for attrition elsewhere. I sink a CV & cripple a CV in the AI while Jon sinks all 3 of mine. But he whiffs on Sasebo. The IB sinks a CV and I invade D Harbor. I lose Suzuya and two more 1-1-8s in the CS/USM. POC goes to 15.
IJN report: I go after the Pearl conversion and Attu while Jon contests the NPO/CPO in addition to the HI. He keeps his CVs in port to avoid the IB. Jon sinks my CAs in the CPO & NPO. I sink his CPO raider but whiff on his NPO patroller. Aack! We fight 2 rounds in the HI. I down 1 LBA on r1 & 3 more on r2. He sinks Soryu & disables a couple carriers before he runs. My raids sink the 3 BBs & put 3d on a marine. POC at 18.
IJN report: I concentrate on taking Guad, holding Indo & defending the perimeter with a flag defense looking to kill CVs if he attacks. I do manage to turn back the marines in Indo with the help of the IB. But the rest of the turn goes very badly for me. Jon decontrols the JI. I get 5 D actions in a row in the Mari’s but Ryujo totally whiffs. Jon then sinks the inept Ryujo. In the Marshalls I get D, but don’t sink any CVs while he sinks Zuikaku & my LBA. In the SPO, it is D and Jon sinks one marine & disables the other with his 2 LBA to save Guad. Ugh!!! POC at 21.
IJN report: Things aren’t looking so good for me. I decide to fall back & defend a contracted perimeter. Jon goes after the CPO. More frustration for me as I can only damage a CV before he sinks Zuiho & my LBA. Kure lands at Midway but takes 2d from Jon’s raids. That really hurt as Jon broke my perimeter, got carrier/LBA attrition and took no carrier loss himself. Sigh. The game situation looks tough for me. POC at 25.
IJN report: I defend the 3 areas I hope to get POC and send BBs to try & deny Jon’s control of the Mari’s & CPO. But more frustration for me as it is all D action in the Mari’s. Jon sinks my marine, 1 BB & damages/disables the other BB. I get my N in the CPO but whiff on his patroller and promptly get sunk. My only bright spot is the IB disabling Jon’s Indo marine. At least all his Mari’s ships won’t be able to base in the Philippines. POC goes to 22.
IJN Surrender: Congratulations Jon. Your winning the JI guarantees a win for you even if I hold the Mari’s. My odds were mighty slim going into the turn and I could not pull off an upset.
