USN Report: Alfred sinks all 10 USN ships, but mistargets
in Indonesia and lets the 5th AF escape with damage.
USN Report: Things take a bad turn for the Allies when two IJN LBA + I-Boat defeat all 5 American CVs in the SPO. Two CVs are sunk and one crippled. Another CV gets sunk when I disable it to Australia by mistake, where it gets air-raided. This game shouldn't last long.
USN Report: Turn 3 sees Alfred abandon Indo,
making a strong push into Hawaii, with significant task forces in Coral and USM.
I challenged his fleet of 2xCA, 2xCVL with 2xBB, 9xCA, 1xCV. His entire task
force was sunk in exchange for my CV. (I now only have one crippled CV.)
Elsewhere, Alfred downs 4 LBA in HI while I only damage or disable his carriers.
My 1 Marines escapes with 3d.
My 3xCA in Japan disable the Yamato. Alfred gets most of the rest of the board.
USN Report: I have resigned my Top Ten match vs.
Alfred, in Turn 4 combat.
Turn 4 Alfred patrols USM and Coral heavily. I try and repair my crippled CV in
Samoa with a defense of 4xLBA. The rest of my fleet takes on his Coral Sea
force.
I get some luck when I sneak in a Marine to Lae via Indo under cover of night.
That's the end of my luck. In USM, Alfred's CVs blow away 2 LBA and suffer no
damage in return. I run.
In Coral, Alfred gets a day and Ryujo only disables the Wasp. I realize I have
to target his lone NLF, or his capture of New Hebrides will pretty much
guarantee Samoa falls next turn. I indeed sink the NLF handily.
Then I sit around for a night, as all my disables have been going to Australia.
Before night falls, Ryujo manages to sink South Dakota, Idaho, and
cripple/disable Indiana. At night Alfred disables my remaining two battleships
and sinks two CAs. In exchange, I pretty much whiff (especially missing Ryujo)
and call it a day!
