Turn 3

USN Report: Mike is up 16 POC (bid is +3) and controls Pearl, Singapore, Lae, and Philippines, but not Samoa, Attu, Dutch Harbor, Kwajalein, or Midway.  US has lost 3 CV, 3 LBA, 9 BB, 7 CA.  IJN losses 4 CV, Hiei, 3 CA, 3 LBA. Brit losses: 3x027, Exeter.  The turn 4 air battle in USM of 1 CV + 4 LBA vs 7 CV came down to one damaged LBA vs Ryujo and Hosho and my flyboys pulled it out.

Turn 5

USN Report: I had a disastrous turn 4 where a my last three American CVs went against single LBA and the I-boat in Indonesia.  The British controlled the area, but all three CVs were sunk, and he captured Guadalcanal. He set up a solid perimeter on turn 5, despite Victorious sinking Akagi.  IJN POC is currently +27.  I control Guadalcanal (recaptured with 2 marines turn 5) and all the small northeast islands (and a surface force at Midway has been tying down a lot of the IJN defending JP and MN), but I can't get anything to Indonesia this turn except British surface forces.  Unless I can capture Lae and Johnston Island (only 2 marines available and he has two also) and win HI vs 5 LBA my game is probably hopeless.

Turn 6

USN Report: His five LBA in HI went 8 for 8 in sinking, disabling, or max damaging CVs and he gained POC on turn 6 to max out at +29.  An LBA in Japan turn 7 would guarantee control of Japan and give him a mathematical lock on the game.

I thought I was in good shape after turn 3, but turn 4 was a complete disaster with the I-boat and a single LBA sinking my last three CV and my LBA failing to turn back your invasion of Guadalcanal. Turn 6 wasn't much better, losing five more CV. My little fleet in the north tied down a lot of IJN ships but I had such poor luck sinking anything you had plenty of ships to spare. Congratulations, you played a fine game. The silliness with disabling the SNLF to the wrong base didn't matter when your LBA went 8 out of 8 hitting CVs in HI the last turn. Even my failure to hit Junyo wouldn't have mattered.

IJN Comments: Yes, I lucked out on turn 4 in Indo when my I boat and one LBA knocked off your 3 CV to hold the zone. However, thought I really had you on turn 3, when I had a chance to flip both Pearl and Samoa and came within an eyelash of doing so.
