Mike Kaye (IJN; Bid 4) vs. Alfred Wong (USN)

The I-Boat Raid and CPO Withdrawal adjustments are in play.

Turn 4
Turn 8

Turn 4

IJN Report: near end of turn 4; IJN +19, will gain 3 POC. Failed in bid to take Pearl.
- This turn, 5 IJN LBA vs 7 LBA in HI: round 1, IJN failed to get a single hit, while losing one LBA and another damaged for 3
- USN forced non-control of CP and Marshalls; IJN let Indo go for free to Brits
- IJN NLF took both Lae and Guadalcanal since all LBA in HI forced USN LBA to defend
- Total forces for turn 5 (unless I stay to fight in HI -- I've been good at hitting BBs, but not so well vs CVs):
-- IJN: 3 CV, 1 CVL, 7 BB, 13 CA, 5 LBA, 1 NLF
-- USN: 3 CV, 7 BB, 8 CA, 10 LBA, 3 Marines
-- Brits: 3 CVL, 4 BB, 5 CA

Turn 8

IJN Report: I narrowly defeated Alfred in our Top Ten match.  As IJN, with bid of 4, won by 2 POC after the bid.  Turn 8 went to  four rounds of combat in JI, where my 6 LBA held on against 6 CV and 2 CVL.  At the same time, denied him control in NP and Marianas for the winning margin.

I benefited from good rolls when they counted, particalarly day/night rolls and Alfred's inability to kill LBA in the last three turns.  Thought Alfred had me beat after I failed to take Pearl with 3 LBA and a substantial fleet (5 CV, 3 CVL, 6 BB, 8 CA) when he went in with his fleet (4 CV, 5 BB, 11 CA) and kicked me out.

IJN peaked at 23 POC on turn 6, then held on
