Ed Menzel vs. Mike Kaye

This is a double game where each player played one game as each side and the scores of both games were totaled.

The I-Boat Raid, North Pacific Option, U.S. Mandate Only,  and West Coast Bases adjustments are in play.

Ed (IJN) vs. Mike (USN)

This report will be abbreviated from what I normally provide as things went badly almost from the start.  On T1, 4 CVs were able to base in Australia.  On T2, Mike went for the HI suicide CV/Marshalls block.  He pulled off the 11% chance to get both as I couldn't dislodge his 2 CA patrol & he got the HI D & sank Yokosuka.  On T3, Akagi, Kaga, Zuiho & Hiyo all four failed their SRs to the HI dooming my chances for converting Pearl.  On T4, Mike's 4 LBA successfully turned away Kure & Sasebo from taking Guadalcanal.  On T6, my last desperate attempt to salvage the game went down in flames as Mike's 20 carrier air factors shot down all 4 Marshalls Isl LBA on the first pass.

With the POC low & no perimeter, I resigned my hopeless situation.  The dice were most cruel this game.  That said, Mike played very well taking advantage of the dice to easily win the game.  Congratulations to Mike for his win.

Mike (IJN) vs. Ed (USN)

Mike & I agreed on common die rolls for the T1 raids, WXYZ & sub shots.  As a result I also got 4 CVs based in Australia at the end of T1.  But things went badly for me in this game also.  I saved Lae & the USM on T2 but lost 2 CVs & had 1 crippled in the process.  On T3, my 2 CVs lost to Mike's one LBA in the SPO and I lost another CV in the process.  Mike also got pure N in the HI to send my 2 marines to the bottom without taking any return fire.  I ran to salvage my LBA.  On T4, my 7 LBA could only turn back one of three SNLFs in the SPO despite getting the D roll.  So I lost both Lae & Guadalcanal.  Also a combination of losing D/N rolls & miserable shooting by my surface navy cost me POC in the both the CS & USM.  I lost Dutch Harbor on T6.  On T7 Mike spread LBA & some of his forces around to make me fight & win in a number of areas.  That proved too much for me & Mike gained a mathematical lock on the game.

The dice were tough on me this game also.  That said, Mike played very well taking advantage of the dice to win the game.  Congratulations to Mike for his win.
