The Normal Turn One variant is in play.
Turn 3
USN Report: Dan Henry and I are playing turn 3 of our game.
Turn 2 was a disaster for my Allies. I sent two CVs and a large surface fleet to the CPO against two mdm CVs and a small surface fleet. One of my CVs whiffed and both of his hit. Then he got 10 day actions in a row and won the battle, killing 8 ships while losing only one, and captured Midway by isolation.
POC is +8 IJN. NT1 game, bid of +0.5
Turn 4
IJN Report:
Only IJN losses, Hiryu, Soryu, no
BB lost, Kako, Kitakami, 118's all lost.
USN strength: At Sea: SD, IN, WA
At Sea: Yorktown (-1), Enterprise (-1), Minneapolis, SF, Pensacola, NO,
Chicago, Chester, Portland in the Marianas.
NM, NV, OK, Quincy (-1), Australia at Samoa
The US has three LBA (two with two damage each) in South Pac, one additional is
sunk versus all Japanese CV (except Hiyo) (he can flee at this point).
In Indonesia: the Brits have Hermes, 4x 443, 2x444, two 117 (plus two more 117
in game) plus the Colorado (-3) and the Tennessee (-2). The IJN has three
LBA - a day/night roll is needed if the 2 Marine lands, which it will, therefore
an 'even' D/N roll is needed to see if the three LBA get to shoot at the two US
BB's (two on CO, one on TN).
Additional info: Oi is in NPO for parking, Furutaka IN CPO. A 436, 127,
and two 117, with Hiyo at sea in JI, rest of fleet in SPO.
USN Report: Dan and I have been playing at a fairly brisk pace for the last few days but will not get beyond turn 4 today. I think the issue is in doubt. Likely status at the end of turn 4: IJN POC +19. USN controls: Ceylon, Andaman Islands, Philippines, Australia, Port Moresby, Guadalcanal, New Hebrides, Samoa; IJN the rest. USN area controls: US, CS, BB, IO. IJN controls: IN, SP, ML, HI, CP, JP, NP. I will have 2 CVs, 7 CAs and maybe 2 BBs in the Philippines with the Marianas uncontrolled, 8 more BBs and a couple of CAs in Samoa/NH plus the turn 5 reinforcements. 9 LBA and two marines will be available. IJN losses have been very light: 2 CV, 8 CA. I guess I win by forfeit since we won't finish turn 5.
GM Ruling: While the IJN is clearly not defeated despite the low POC and good Allied base situation (due to extremely low attrition), the game has not reached the end of combat on Turn 5 and is, therefore, ineligible for adjudication. The game is awarded to Jim solely on the basis of delay-of-game.
