This is the West Coast VITP championship. The field is usually very strong. Invariably Ed Menzel, Bobby Clinton, Nick Markevich, and yours truly are present. Other luminaries (who are recognizable from the AREA lists) who have played here include Alan Applebaum, John Pack, Brad Solberg, Mike Day, John Bullis, Scott Beall and Eric Kam. Tough local players from the past include Clark Millikan, Jeff Atterberry, and Martin Toggweiller (all past winners who don't have AREA ratings) and Jack Gin.
The 1st place plaque is very similar to that given out at the WBC. In fact, it's the same size as the Trial Events first place plaques. The plaque has a line drawing of the Akagi as well as the Conquest logo.
John Pack has announced that IF we have 16 or more players in this event, the winner gets an automatic seeding into the next Top 10 PBEM Championship. So come on out and try your luck.
We've (obviously) had players travel from Utah, Washington, Arizona and Massachusetts, not to mention the LA area to play in this puppy. John, are coming in from Colorado this year?
Play balance adjustments 1 and 2 are mandatory, unless both players agree not to use them.
Bidding for sides in 1/2 POC increments is the default method. Other play balance adjustments (see the list on John Pack's web site) may be used if both players agree.
John Sharp is flying in from Florida and is looking for a roomate. If interested, contact me or John directly (if you have his address).
